I tend to fangirl a lot that only some of my f-list would appreciate. So, in order to spare people from meaningless posts flooding their f-list, I lock my posts under the appropriate categories. I welcome new LJ friends, though, so if you friend me and would like me to friend you back, just comment to this post.

I got my graduation regalia yesterday and I tried it on. I look so grown-up! No more short white coat for me!

I can't believe I'm about to graduate and get my MD soon. I'm gonna be a doctor in just a little over a week! It's kind of a terrifying thought 'cause I feel like I still know nothing from these past 4 years. I guess that's what these final weeks of lectures are supposed to be for: reinforcement. I found out today that I know practically nothing about hyponatremia. My senior residents are gonna hate me 'cause I'm gonna be paging them like crazy my first year. Please don't let me kill any patients! XD

But I'm excited about this month and summer. Aside from graduation festivities, I'm probably closing on my condo tomorrow. And then there's the gala AKA med school prom on Friday. Senior picnic on Sunday. Brewers/Cubs game next Friday with practically the whole class going. Graduation on the 18th. I leave for China on the 23rd for 3 weeks. And on the way back to the States... I have a 49-hour layover in Tokyo!!! Guys, I finally get to visit Japan! So before the life is sucked out of me by residency, I can at least fulfill a little dream.

Remember this post that I wrote a while ago?

Well, guess what I found in this week's episode of Mikeneko Holmes no Suiri?

"The Castle" returns! If they use it for Ohno's drama, too, I will laugh so hard.

Thank you all for your response to my last post! I was really super-excited about the news. And as an addendum to that, I found out where I'll be for the next 4 years of my life.

*drumroll*

I'm staying right here at MCW! I'm super happy 'cause it was my top choice. I love it here, the program has a great reputation (I believe it was ranked #5 in the nation just a few years ago), I'm gonna be able to learn a lot, especially about pediatric anesthesiology. I'll be close to home, I won't have to move far from my current place, and I'm getting a sweet salary, especially compared to cost of living here. All in all, only positive things about my residency spot. So happy!

All my friends are looking forward to getting out of here, but not me. Midwest is best!

"Congratulations! You have matched."

This is the e-mail I got at 11AM this morning. BEST E-MAIL EVER!!!! I matched, guys!! That means that I'm going to be an anesthesiologist when I grow up. That means that I have somewhere to be starting July 1st. That I have a job, as a doctor. This is the biggest relief of my life.

I won't know where until Friday, but right now, I don't care. I'm just happy to know that I have a residency spot waiting for me and that my future, for now, is set.

I'm back from Shanghai! Actually, I've been back for almost exactly 1 week now but since I started my Internal Medicine sub-internship the day after I got back, I've been really busy and jet-lagged since. And I have to work weekends so it's not like I can catch up then. So, here I am, writing a quick post while at work.

Anyway, I've missed a lot while I was in China because of the crappy Internet connection I had at my hotel. But it's not like I had a lot of sit-in-my-hotel-room-and-do-nothing moments; I was always out, eating, shopping, partying, etc. But still, I've missed my Arashi fixes and on my online friends. And there is no way I'm gonna be able to catch up on a month's worth of news, so if I have missed something important or just particularly interesting in your life, please tell me!

On my end, Match Week starts next Monday. So I'll find out whether I have somewhere to go in July or need to spend a week begging any program to take me by 11AM on Monday. I'm trying not to think too much about it 'cause if I do, I'll probably go into a panic attack. I'm fully prepared to scramble but I still want to cling to the hope that some program will just take me. Wish me luck!

Shanghai hijinks posts to come, once I have more time and can organize my thoughts.

I'm at work right now so I don't have access to pretty, pretty pictures, but I wanted to wish my ichiban, the wonderful Sakurai Sho-san, a very happy 30th birthday. I can't believe that Yama are now in their 30's. But they're still young and dorky at heart (and on TV).

Guess who has to work on Jan. 1st? If your answer was "uh...no one," you'd be wrong. But I don't! While New Year's Day is not a holiday at my school, thankfully, it is a Sunday. So I don't have to work unless I'm on call. And I'm not on call! Yays! Granted, I'm on call on Monday, which means I'll be at the hospital from 6 AM to...6 AM? Noon? No clue how the new work hour restrictions apply to medical students.

But yeah, way to kick-start the new year with 24+ hours of straight work. And I've forgotten all my medical knowledge at this point. I'll be even more useless on the team than the 3rd years. Can't even say that I remember how to tie a surgical knot. So I'm hoping for not a lot of stupid, drunken accidents on Monday.

Oh, and Happy (almost) New Year, everyone!

I've missed both Aiba's b-day and Christmas, but I still wanna wish everyone a happy holiday season. I hope you all got lots of good food and presents, and spent quality time with friends and family.

And now that I've got my entire LJ imported here to DW, I'm gonna spend more time here. I will go back and read the most recent posts of all my new friends (HI FRIENDS! *waves*) and catch up a little. But not now because it's 2AM and I'm about to pass out.

An small intro post to come, for those that did not know me back on LJ.

First official post on DW. I'm still waiting in the queue to get my LJ imported over. It's been over 1.5 days but according to the DW staff, that's to be expected due to the mass exodus from LJ in the past few days. Nice to see that the staff here actually communicates with their users. Yay, DW! So once everything gets imported, I'm gonna start messing around with the site and layout, and all that stuff. For now, since most of my friends are still on LJ, I'll cross-post everything.
