Keeping with the tradition of watching Orlando Bloom movies on opening day, I saw Pirates 3 last night with David! <3
It was just a little bit too long and was quite confusing at times, especially with the 5,000 different accents and weird vocabulary in the film. And it felt like they tried to fit a 20,000-page novel into a 3-hour movie. There was almost too much plot to handle. Still, I liked it and I definitely have to watch it again 'cause I didn't understand it all the first time around. Perhaps the director planned on that. If so, he's a genius.
Captain Jack Sparrow (x 25) was (were) as funny as ever. I especially loved his banters with Barbossa. They make a hilarious pair.
Elizabeth is still a whore. She kissed every major character except Barbossa, and I half-expected her to do that at the end. And right when she was about to go see Will for the last time in 10 years, she tried to kiss Sparrow, AGAIN! Whore, I say. Oh, and her "impassioned" speeches throughout the film were annoying. You're not a pirate, stop trying so hard.
Pirate captain Will is HOT. There's no other word for it. The first shot of Will at the helm of the Flying Dutchman? OMG, HAWT. And I liked how Will finally took things into his own hands in this movie, rather than just going along with everyone else's plans. He did his own shares of plotting and betrayals. Good for you, Will.
Sao Feng (Chow Yun-Fat's character) was, I felt, a bit pointless to the plot. They randomly added him tot he sotry and got rid of him once they no longer needed his character. Seriously, if they wanted Elizabeth at the council meeting thingy, they could've done it better than that. And poor Norrington. At least he redeemed himself before he went.
As much as I didn't like Will being with Elizabeth after the second movie ('cause Elizabeth is a whore), the wedding scene was hilarious and an "awwww" moment. And I LOVED how Barbossa indulged them.
Elizabeth: Barbossa! Marry us!
Barbossa: I'm a little busy as the moment! *kills 2 attackers*
Will: Marry us now!
Barbossa: Oh, alright! *kills more attackers* Dearly beloved, we are gathered here...
This is during a battle. In a rainstorm. On a ship. While they're all spiralling down into a whirlpool. HILARIOUS, I say.
Didn't care so much for the "honeymoon" scene. Elizabeth/Keira has massive looking thighs and no boobs.
And since this is Pirates, there were plenty of rum and Jack the monkey jokes, almost too many action sequences and lots of minor characters from previous movies making appearances. All in all, a really fun film to end off the trilogy.
