I have proof, I say! I think the snow was freakishly high compared to the size of the car.
Passenger side. The big ball of snow on top of the big pile of snow is the snow I had to push out of the way to get out of the car.

Driver's side.

I'll explain to those who are confused. Feifei really wanted to park close to the door 'cause she didn't want to trample through slushy snow and puddles. We circled the parking lot one full time and found possible spots to park. Two had absolutely not snow obstructing the entrace into the space. Two had a bit of snow at the entrance of the space but it would still be okay if the car had enough momentum going into it. One space had a pretty big pile of snow and really, no little compact car should ever try to drive over it. And which parking space does Feifei choose to park in? The one with the biggest pile of snow, of course!
Feifei's car is an old, manual Honda that is front-wheel drive. She got the front of the car over the big pile of snow and then we got stuck. She tried going forward and the wheels just spun in place. She tried going backward and the wheels just spun in place. I had to kick the door to open it 'cause it was obstructed by wet snow. We eventually dug out the slushy snow surrounding the tires and rocked the car back and forth for a while. Finally, some nice guys walked by and one of them pushed Feifei's car into the space. Now, she won't be able to get out again until the snow melts.
So, some winter lessons:
1) Wet snow is soooooooooo much heavier than dry snow.
2) Feifei's car sucks in winter, especially in wet snow.
3) Feifei does not know her car well enough to judge whether or not it can successfully get over a huge mound of snow.
4) Puddles can be very, very deceiving, especially at night in a parking lot.
