This is a loooooooooooooooooooong rant about how difficult it is for me to find a decent pair of jeans.
Some basic things to know first:
1) I am incredibly cheap. My clothes average about $5-$10 a piece and my pants average about $10-$15 a pair.
2) I am weirdly proportioned. I have wide hips (thanks, mom and dad) but relatively skinny thighs and calves. Therefore, if my pants fit me around my hips, they are usually loose around my thighs, giving off that loose look which I don't particularly like. That's why I love the idea of the 'skinny jean'.
3) My legs are long but not that long. So, if I buy a 'regular' jean, it's just a tad too short. But the 'long' jeans tend to be just a tad too long.
So my mission was to spend, hopefully, less than $30 for a pair of skinny jeans. By some miracle, I found such a pair of jeans at Wet Seal for only $24.50. Still a bit expensive by my standards but I knew it was a steal considering the other prices I've seen. I tried on the 7 Long and found that it was really too long for me. And that's where I made my stupid mistake. I assumed that the 7 Regular would be just perfect and at first glance, it was. I bought and was happy.
But when I finally wore it (3 days later), I realized that it was just a little too short for me, but enough so that it'd bother me forever. So I decided to go back to the store and exchange it for a 7 Long. "Better too long than too short" was the thought in mind. Unfortunately, when I got to the store (after waiting for the bus in the cold for 30 mins), they were out of 7 Long sizes. Not a single 7 Long in the whole store. Not in any of the colors. I was severely disappointed.
I asked when they'd get another shipment and they said on Monday, and it'd probably be on the shelves on Tuesday. It was Wednesday so I just missed it. Very annoying.
Tuesday comes around and I find myself again at Wet Seal. I go to the shelves of jeans and again, no 7 Long sizes. I ask again when they get new shipments and they say that they just got one earlier that day, meaning that they'll be on the shelves on Wednesday. At this point I was pretty pissed but I didn't show it.
Today, I borrowed Dennis' car and went again to Wet Seal. And guess what? No 7 Long. I gave up. I really wanted to avoid the shipping charge from online purchases but I wasn't gonna keeping coming back to the same store just to be disappointed each time.
Now, had I know that by subscribing to WetSeal.com updates, I'd get free shipping on my next purchase, I wouldn't have bothered going back the 2nd and 3rd times. So I ordered a pair of skinny jeans, 7 Long, in the color I wanted for $24.50. No shipping. No sales tax. So in the end, I saved some money from ordering online.
Yes, I did all of this to save a couple of dollars on a pair of jeans. I'm crazy, I say.
